AI-suggested

Since the vulnerability exists in versions 8.30.1 and earlier, upgrading to a fixed version when available is recommended. Until a fix is released, restrict access to the metadata write endpoint to trusted users only and consider isolating the container filesystem to limit potential damage. Monitor vendor advisories for official patches or updates.

Description

Gotenberg versions 8.30.1 and earlier have an argument injection vulnerability in the metadata write endpoint. While metadata keys are validated for control characters, metadata values are not sanitized, allowing newline characters to split ExifTool input into multiple arguments. This enables injection of arbitrary ExifTool pseudo-tags, permitting an unauthenticated attacker to rename, move, overwrite files, or create symlinks and hard links within the container filesystem.
