Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CVE-2026-4155) affects ChargePoint Home Flex charging stations version 5.5.4.13. It is caused by the inclusion of sensitive information—a secret cryptographic seed value—in the genpw script. Because this script can be accessed remotely without authentication, attackers can disclose stored credentials. This information disclosure vulnerability is classified under CWE-540 (Inclusion of Sensitive Information in Source Code) and has a CVSS 3.0 base score of 7.5, indicating high severity. No official patch or remediation guidance has been provided by the vendor as of the publication date.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated remote attackers to disclose sensitive cryptographic seed values and stored credentials from the affected ChargePoint Home Flex devices. This can lead to further compromise of the device or associated systems relying on these credentials. There is no indication of impact on integrity or availability, but confidentiality is severely affected.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed—check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict network access to the affected devices to trusted networks only and monitor for unauthorized access attempts. Avoid exposing the genpw script or related interfaces to untrusted networks.
