Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-42145 describes a vulnerability in coollabsio's Coolify product where the file upload endpoint (app/Http/Controllers/UploadController.php) for database backup restore uploads lacked validation on file type and size. This unrestricted upload of files with dangerous types could allow an authenticated user to upload unexpected or oversized files, potentially affecting service availability. The vulnerability is addressed in version 4.0.0-beta.474.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows authenticated users to upload files without restrictions on type or size, which could lead to denial of service conditions by exhausting resources or causing service disruptions. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade to version 4.0.0-beta.474 or later, where the file upload validation issue is fixed. Since the vendor advisory indicates the issue is resolved in this version, applying this update fully mitigates the vulnerability.
