A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. Users should update their systems to the fixed kernel versions to resolve this issue. No additional mitigation actions are indicated or required beyond applying the official fix.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel ext4 filesystem was addressed by ensuring that queued discard work is always drained in the ext4_mb_release() function. The issue arises when a filesystem is mounted with the discard option, files are deleted, then remounted with nodiscard, leaving pending discard work neither cancelled nor flushed. Exploitation requires a specific sequence of mounting, deleting, remounting, and unmounting, making it difficult to trigger deliberately. The vulnerability has been fixed in updated Linux kernel versions.
