An official patch is available that introduces validation of the previous kernel's IMA buffer memory range to prevent page faults. Users should apply the patch or update to a fixed kernel version to remediate this issue.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Integrity Measurement Architecture (IMA) was resolved that could cause a page fault when the second-stage kernel is booted via kexec with a memory limiting command line such as "mem=<size>". This occurs because the IMA measurement buffer from the previous kernel may lie outside the addressable RAM of the new kernel, leading to a fault during early restore on x86_64 systems. The issue is fixed by validating that the previous kernel's IMA buffer lies within addressable memory before access.
