AI-suggested
An official fix is available and should be applied. The vulnerability is resolved by updating the Linux kernel to a patched version that includes the boundary check for num_ifs in the dpaa2-switch driver. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as provided by their Linux distribution vendors, such as the Ubuntu security notice USN-8492-1.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's dpaa2-switch driver allows an out-of-bounds write due to improper validation of the num_ifs value obtained from firmware. This can cause memory corruption when the number of interfaces reported is equal to or exceeds the maximum allowed (64). The issue has been fixed by adding a boundary check in the driver initialization code.
