A fix is available that properly serializes sequence allocation by moving the cmd_sem_val increment under the iommu->lock spinlock. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel versions that include this patch to resolve the issue. No additional mitigations are indicated.
Description
A medium severity vulnerability (CVE-2026-43220) in the Linux kernel's AMD IOMMU code was resolved. The issue involved improper serialization of sequence allocation during concurrent TLB invalidations, causing completion waits to randomly time out. This occurred because a semaphore value was incremented outside the IOMMU spinlock, allowing command completion wait commands to be queued out of order and breaking expected ordering assumptions. The fix moves the semaphore increment inside the lock to serialize command queuing and sequence allocation properly.
