AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The fix properly accounts property blob allocations to the memory cgroup, preventing uncontrolled kernel memory growth. Users should update to fixed kernel versions as provided by their distribution. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's DRM subsystem allowed unprivileged users to allocate arbitrary-sized property blobs without proper memory cgroup accounting. This could lead to unbounded kernel memory consumption and potentially cause system-wide out-of-memory (OOM) conditions. The issue has been fixed by marking the property blob data allocation with GFP_KERNEL_ACCOUNT to ensure memory is properly charged to the caller's memory cgroup, enforcing existing memory limits.
