A fix is available for this vulnerability. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel versions that include the patch for CVE-2026-43305 to resolve the mismatched unlock issue in the AMD display driver. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMD display driver (drm/amd/display) caused a mismatched unlock of the DMUB hardware lock in the HWSS fast path, leading to a system hang on ASICs without FAMS support. The issue was due to inconsistent evaluation of when to lock versus unlock the DMUB hardware lock. This has been fixed by storing a flag to consistently manage locking and unlocking operations.
