AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The fix corrects the event ring index programming for IPA v5.0+ to use the proper register identifier, resolving the blocking and hang issues. Users should update to Linux kernel versions 6.8.0-136.136 or later, or the corresponding patched builds listed in the advisory. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IPA (IP Accelerator) subsystem for versions prior to 6.8.0-136.136 and certain specific earlier versions caused the event ring index to be incorrectly programmed for IPA v5.0 and later. This flaw prevented GSI channels from signaling transfer completions, causing functions like gsi_channel_trans_quiesce() to block indefinitely. This led to hangs during runtime suspend, system suspend, and remoteproc stop, rendering the IPA data path non-functional. The issue has been fixed in updated Linux kernel releases.
