A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to resolve this issue. The vendor advisory confirms that this vulnerability has been fixed. Systems running affected kernel versions should upgrade to the fixed versions as soon as possible to prevent exploitation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Btrfs filesystem allows a local user to trigger a transaction abort by repeatedly snapshotting a previously received snapshot until an internal item overflow occurs. This causes the filesystem to switch to read-only mode, potentially disrupting system operations. The affected Btrfs operations do not require full administrative privileges, only inode ownership or capability. The issue has been fixed in updated kernel versions.
