AI-suggested

A patch is available and should be applied to affected linux-aws kernel versions. The fix changes the handling of the write payload to prevent in-place encryption corruption. Users should update to a fixed kernel version to remediate this issue. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SMB client implementation caused in-place encryption corruption during SMB2 write operations. This corruption occurs when write retries resend already-encrypted data instead of the original plaintext, leading to data corruption especially on unstable connections. The issue affects certain linux-aws kernel versions and was fixed by changing how the write payload is handled before encryption.
