An official patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to resolve this issue. The vendor advisory confirms the fix is included in updated kernel packages. Users should update their Linux kernel to a patched version to mitigate this vulnerability.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's e1000/e1000e network drivers caused a leak in DMA error cleanup due to an off-by-one error in buffer unmapping logic. This flaw could lead to a DMA mapping leak when an error occurs during TX buffer mapping. The issue was introduced by a fix that resolved an infinite loop but inadvertently caused this off-by-one error. The vulnerability may also exist in the igbvf driver. A patch is available to correct this behavior.
