A patch is available that fixes the no-op check logic in set_access_flags() by evaluating each sub-PTE individually using raw values. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that resolve this issue. No additional mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel arm64 contpte component caused incorrect no-op checks in set_access_flags() for SMMU/ATS faults. This could lead to infinite fault loops due to false no-op detection when sibling page table entries are dirty but the target sub-PTE still requires updates. The issue was fixed by improving the check to evaluate each sub-PTE individually using raw values rather than a gathered view.
