Description

CVE-2026-44516 is a vulnerability in the Valtimo open-source business process automation platform affecting versions from 12.4.0 up to but not including 12.33.0, and from 13.0.0 up to but not including 13.26.0. Technical Analysis

Valtimo's LoggingRestClientCustomizer automatically intercepts all outgoing HTTP calls made via Spring's RestClient and logs the full request body, response body, and response headers. When an error response is received, this detailed information is included in the HttpClientErrorException message and logged at ERROR level by Spring's default exception handling, regardless of DEBUG log level settings. This behavior can lead to sensitive information being inserted into log files, violating secure logging practices (CWE-532). The vulnerability affects Valtimo versions >= 12.4.0 and < 12.33.0, and >= 13.0.0 and < 13.26.0. It is resolved in versions 12.33.0 and 13.26.0.

Potential Impact

Sensitive information contained in HTTP request and response bodies and headers may be exposed in log files at ERROR level, potentially leading to confidentiality breaches. The vulnerability does not affect availability and has limited impact on integrity. The CVSS 3.1 score of 7.6 reflects a high severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, and high confidentiality impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

This vulnerability is fixed in Valtimo versions 12.33.0 and 13.26.0. Users should upgrade to these or later versions to remediate the issue. No other official remediation or temporary fixes are indicated. Patch status is confirmed by the vendor advisory stating the fix is included in these versions.
