VulnerabilityCVE-2026-44860cvecve-2026-44860
Published: Tue May 12 2026 (05/12/2026, 19:05:21 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE)
Product: HPE Aruba Networking Wireless Operating System (AOS)

Description

SQL injection vulnerabilities exist in several underlying service components accessible through the AOS-8 and AOS-10 command-line interface and management protocol. An authenticated attacker with administrative privileges could exploit these vulnerabilities by injecting crafted input into parameters that are passed unsanitized to backend database queries. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the underlying operating system.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves SQL injection in multiple service components of HPE Aruba Networking Wireless Operating System (AOS) versions 8.10.0.0, 8.12.0.0, 8.13.0.0, 10.4.0.0, 10.7.0.0, and 10.8.0.0. The injection points are accessible through the AOS-8 and AOS-10 command-line interface and management protocol. An attacker with administrative privileges can inject malicious input into parameters that are not properly sanitized before being used in backend database queries. This can lead to execution of arbitrary commands on the underlying OS, potentially compromising the device and network infrastructure. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 7.2, indicating a high severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, and no user interaction required.

Potential Impact

If exploited, this vulnerability allows an authenticated administrator-level attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the underlying operating system of affected HPE Aruba AOS devices. This can lead to full system compromise, including unauthorized access, data manipulation, and disruption of network services. The high CVSS score reflects the critical impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected systems.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since the vulnerability requires administrative privileges, limiting administrative access and employing strong authentication controls can reduce risk. Monitor official HPE advisories for updates regarding patches or official fixes. Until a patch is available, avoid exposing management interfaces to untrusted networks.
