Since the vulnerability requires access to the owner-only gateway tool, restricting access to this tool and monitoring for unauthorized configuration changes are recommended interim measures. Check the vendor advisory for updates on patches or official remediation guidance.
Description
CVE-2026-45001 is a vulnerability in OpenClaw versions before 2026.4.20 where certain agent-facing gateway endpoints lack proper authorization checks. This flaw allows unauthorized users with limited privileges to bypass protections on critical operator-trusted settings, including sandbox policies, plugin enablement, gateway authentication/TLS, and filesystem hardening. Exploitation requires access to the owner-only gateway tool and can result in persistent unauthorized configuration changes.
