A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms the fix is included in updated kernel packages. Systems running affected versions should upgrade to the fixed releases to mitigate this vulnerability.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF subsystem was fixed. The issue arises from improper handling of virtual memory areas (VMAs) during fork operations, leading to stale pointers and potential memory corruption. The flaw is addressed by preventing arena VMAs from being inherited across forks and rejecting certain memory remapping operations. Multiple specific Linux kernel versions are affected. A patch is available to resolve this vulnerability.
