AI-suggested

An official patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The Ubuntu security advisory USN-8781-1 confirms that fixes have been released. Users should update their Linux kernel packages to the fixed versions provided by their distribution vendors. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IP Virtual Server (ipvs) subsystem caused incorrect IPv6 protocol checksum validation when extension headers were present before the protocol header. This flaw was fixed by correctly using the offset stored in the IPv6 header length field. The issue could lead to denial of service due to incorrect checksum handling. Multiple specific Linux kernel versions are affected. A patch is available and has been incorporated in security updates.
