A patch is available and should be applied to affected kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this issue has been fixed in updated kernel releases. Users should update to the fixed versions to remediate the memory leak.

Description

A memory leak vulnerability was identified and fixed in the Linux kernel's chips-media wave5 driver. The issue occurs when codec_info allocation fails after a vpu instance is allocated, causing the instance not to be freed properly. This flaw has been addressed by ensuring the allocated instance is freed on error paths. The vulnerability affects specific versions of the linux-hwe-edge kernel. A patch is available to resolve this issue.
