A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this issue. Users should update to a patched kernel version that includes this fix. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, applying the official kernel update is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigations are indicated.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's stmmac network driver for GMAC4 occurs when the split header feature is enabled. In rare cases, the hardware does not fill the second buffer of the first descriptor with payload data, causing incorrect length calculation for subsequent descriptors and leading to a kernel oops (crash). This issue has been fixed by using the PL bit-field in the RDES3 register for all descriptors regardless of position.
