An official patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The Ubuntu security advisory USN-8492-1 provides updates that fix this issue. Users should update their systems to the fixed kernel versions to mitigate this vulnerability.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ublk userspace block driver was resolved by validating the SQE128 flag before accessing the cmd field in ublk_ctrl_cmd_dump(). The flaw could cause out-of-bound memory access due to accessing cmd before checking the IO_URING_F_SQE128 flag. This issue affects multiple Linux kernel versions and has been fixed by moving the flag check earlier to return an error if the flag is not set.
