A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The fix corrects the integer overflow by validating param_count before arithmetic operations. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as provided by their distribution vendors. No additional mitigations are specified or required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's device mapper mirror subsystem was fixed to address an integer overflow in the create_dirty_log() function. The flaw allowed an attacker to bypass argument count validation by providing a param_count near UINT_MAX, causing an unsigned integer wraparound. This could lead to out-of-bounds reads on an internal array. The issue was resolved by adding proper validation before performing arithmetic operations on param_count.
