A patch is available and should be applied by updating to the fixed Linux kernel versions as provided by the vendor. After updating, a system reboot is required to apply the changes. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A null pointer dereference vulnerability (CVE-2026-46079) in the Linux kernel's RADOS block device (rbd) driver was fixed. The issue occurs when device_add_disk() fails after device_add() succeeds, causing a double teardown sequence that leads to a null pointer dereference in blk-mq cleanup functions. This flaw can cause a kernel crash (denial of service). The vulnerability affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to the patched releases. A patch is available and included in recent Linux kernel updates.
