A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms that this vulnerability has been fixed in linux-hwe-edge kernel versions 6.8.0-136.136 and later. Users should update their systems to these fixed versions to mitigate the issue.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel Bluetooth subsystem (hci_conn) was fixed by adding validation checks and proper reference counting in the create_big_sync function. This flaw could cause the kernel to dereference a stale connection pointer, potentially leading to memory corruption. The vulnerability affects multiple versions of the linux-hwe-edge kernel prior to 6.8.0-136.136 and specific earlier versions. A patch is available and has been released to address this issue.
