AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions 7.0.0-28.28~24.04.1 and later, including various Ubuntu kernel builds. Users and administrators should apply these updates from their Linux distribution vendors to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigations are required as the issue is addressed by the official patches.

Description

A memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's 802.1Q VLAN egress QoS mapping implementation was resolved. The issue involved the vlan_dev_set_egress_priority() function retaining cleared egress priority mappings as tombstones, causing accumulation of mapping nodes and memory leaks during repeated set/clear cycles. This affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-28.28 and related builds. The vulnerability has been patched and updates are available from Ubuntu and other Linux distributors.
