AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been applied in Linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and later. Users should upgrade to these fixed kernel versions or later to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required as the issue is resolved by the official fix.
Description
A time-of-check to time-of-use (TOCTOU) race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Btrfs filesystem ioctl handler (btrfs_ioctl_space_info) was fixed. The flaw allowed a race between counting block group entries and copying them to userspace, potentially leaking uninitialized kernel heap memory. The issue was resolved by adjusting the copy size to the actual number of entries and using zero-initialized memory allocation. This vulnerability affects specific older Linux kernel versions and has been patched in later releases.
