A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been fixed. Users should update their Linux kernel to a fixed version to resolve this vulnerability. No additional mitigations are specified or required beyond applying the official fix.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/msm/gem component was fixed, addressing improper error handling in the msm_ioctl_gem_info_get_metadata() function. The function previously always returned success (0) even when errors occurred, such as failures in copy_to_user() or when the user buffer was too small. Additionally, a missing NULL check for kmemdup() could lead to a NULL pointer dereference. This flaw could cause userspace to incorrectly believe an ioctl call succeeded and potentially cause a denial of service due to the NULL dereference. The issue has been patched in affected Linux kernel versions.
