A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to correct the buffer size clamping order in the vsock subsystem. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms this fix is included in updated kernel releases. Systems running affected versions should upgrade to the fixed kernel versions as soon as possible.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's vsock subsystem was fixed by correcting the order of buffer size clamping in the vsock_update_buffer_size() function. The flaw allowed the buffer size to exceed its maximum configured limit if a user set a minimum buffer size larger than the maximum. This could break intended socket memory boundaries. The issue has been patched in affected Linux kernel versions.
