AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to prevent the kernel crash. The fix is included in official Linux kernel updates. Systems with CONFIG_DRM_DEBUG_MM disabled are unlikely to encounter this issue. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the vendor-provided kernel updates.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMD GPU driver (amdgpu) related to zero-size GDS range initialization on RDNA4 (GFX 12) hardware was fixed. The issue caused a kernel crash during module loading when the driver attempted to initialize on-chip memory resources with zero size. This bug triggers a kernel assertion failure if kernel debug mode for DRM memory management is enabled. The flaw has been resolved by adding a guard to skip initialization for absent hardware resources. This vulnerability has a CVSS score of 5.5 and is considered low severity. A patch is available and included in Linux kernel updates.
