An official patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to remediate this vulnerability. The vendor advisory confirms multiple Linux kernel security fixes including this issue. Users should update to fixed kernel versions at or beyond 6.8.0-136.136 or the corresponding patched releases listed. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's clock driver for Microchip MPFS-CCC was fixed to address an out-of-bounds access during output registration. The issue was caused by incorrect handling of IDs for PLL and DLL outputs, leading to memory access beyond allocated space. This flaw was detected by UBSAN and corrected by adjusting the indexing logic. The vulnerability affects multiple specific Linux kernel versions prior to 6.8.0-136.136 and several others listed. A patch is available to resolve this issue.
