AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability is included in the nightly build simc-1205-01-516b5d7. Users should update to this nightly build to remediate the issue. Since no official release containing the fix is available, users relying on stable releases should monitor for an official patched release. Until patched, avoid loading untrusted .simc profiles, addon exports, or using Battle.net API responses from untrusted or potentially compromised network sources.

Description

CVE-2026-47235 is a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in SimulationCraft (simc), a tool for exploring World of Warcraft combat mechanics. The flaw occurs in builds after release-820-01 and before a May 7, 2026 nightly build, where a loop processing JSON socket arrays writes beyond fixed-size arrays due to missing bounds checks. This leads to memory corruption that can cause crashes or code execution. Attackers can exploit this by supplying malicious .simc profiles, compromised addon exports, or manipulated Battle.net API responses. A fix is included in the nightly build simc-1205-01-516b5d7, but no official release containing the fix is yet available.
