Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CVE-2026-47538) is an out-of-bounds write flaw (CWE-787) in the firmware of the NVIDIA GeForce GPU Display Driver for Windows and Linux. An attacker with high privileges and local access could exploit this flaw to perform unauthorized code execution, cause denial of service, escalate privileges, disclose sensitive information, or tamper with data. The CVSS 3.1 vector indicates low attack complexity, high privileges required, no user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Potential Impact

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow attackers to execute arbitrary code, disrupt system availability, escalate their privileges, access confidential information, and modify data on affected systems running NVIDIA GeForce GPU Display Drivers. The attack requires local access with high privileges, limiting remote exploitation potential. The overall impact is significant but mitigated by the required attacker privileges.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch information is provided in the available data. Until a patch is released, limit access to systems with NVIDIA GeForce drivers and ensure only trusted users have high privileges.
