Technical Analysis

The NVIDIA GPU Display Driver for Linux contains a CWE-401 vulnerability where memory allocated in error paths is not properly released. This memory leak can be triggered by an unprivileged user, resulting in kernel memory exhaustion. The vulnerability does not impact confidentiality or integrity but can cause availability issues by leading to denial of service.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can cause kernel memory exhaustion, resulting in denial of service. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity according to the CVSS vector. The attack requires local access with low privileges and no user interaction.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch links are provided in the available data. Until a patch is available, limiting unprivileged user access to the affected system may reduce risk.
