Description

CVE-2026-47682 is a path traversal vulnerability in the CVAT open source annotation tool. Versions from 1.6.0 up to but not including 2.65.0 allow an attacker with write access to a configured cloud storage, or the ability to add new cloud storages, to overwrite arbitrary files on the server filesystem. This vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.65.0. The CVSS 4.0 score is 7.1, indicating a high severity issue.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability identified as CVE-2026-47682 in CVAT (Computer Vision Annotation Tool) versions 1.6.0 through 2.64.0 is a CWE-22 path traversal flaw. It allows an attacker who has write access to a cloud storage integrated with a CVAT instance, or who can add new cloud storages, to overwrite arbitrary files on the server's filesystem. This could lead to unauthorized modification of server files. The issue was resolved in version 2.65.0.

Potential Impact

An attacker with write permissions to a cloud storage linked to the CVAT instance, or the ability to add such storages, can overwrite arbitrary files on the server. This could compromise server integrity and potentially lead to further exploitation or denial of service. There is no indication of active exploitation in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade CVAT to version 2.65.0 or later, where this path traversal vulnerability has been fixed. Until then, restrict write access to cloud storages and control the ability to add new cloud storages to trusted users only.
