Description

ColdFusion is affected by a reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to inject malicious scripts into a web page, potentially gaining elevated access or control over the victim's account or session. Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-48320 is a reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Adobe ColdFusion 2025. An attacker can exploit this flaw by tricking a user into opening a malicious file, which results in the injection of malicious scripts into a web page. The vulnerability affects a component that is restricted to an administrative network zone by default. The scope of the vulnerability is changed, indicating that the impact extends beyond the initially vulnerable component. The CVSS 3.1 vector indicates the attack requires adjacent network access, low attack complexity, no privileges, and user interaction, with a high impact on confidentiality and integrity but no impact on availability.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can lead to an attacker executing arbitrary scripts in the context of the victim's browser session, potentially resulting in elevated access or control over the victim's account or session. The vulnerability affects confidentiality and integrity but does not impact availability. Since the vulnerable component is restricted to an administrative network zone, the exposure is limited to that environment. Exploitation requires user interaction, reducing the likelihood of automated widespread attacks.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation level has been published yet. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the administrative network zone and educate users to avoid opening suspicious files. Monitor Adobe's advisories for updates on patches or official mitigations.
