Technical Analysis

Adobe ColdFusion 2025 contains an Incorrect Authorization vulnerability (CWE-863) that enables an attacker to bypass authorization controls, resulting in privilege escalation. This flaw allows unauthorized read and write access to sensitive components within the administrative network zone. The vulnerability can be exploited remotely with low attack complexity and no user interaction, affecting confidentiality and integrity while not impacting availability. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 9.3 (critical), reflecting the severity of the issue. No patch or official remediation guidance is currently available, and no known exploits are reported in the wild.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation could lead to unauthorized privilege escalation, allowing an attacker to read and modify sensitive data or configurations within the administrative network zone of ColdFusion 2025. This compromises confidentiality and integrity of the affected system components. Availability is not impacted. The vulnerability affects the security scope, meaning the attacker's privileges could extend beyond their original boundaries.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict access to the administrative network zone and monitor for unusual activity. No vendor-provided mitigation or temporary fix is currently documented.
