Vendor/Project: instantsoft
Product: icms2

Description

InstantCMS versions prior to 2.18.2 have a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the file upload feature. The vulnerability occurs when the "upload from URL" function follows HTTP redirects, allowing the redirected URL to bypass a private IP address blacklist. This enables authenticated users to scan and access internal network services. The issue is fixed in version 2.18.2.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-48707 is an SSRF vulnerability in InstantCMS (icms2) affecting versions before 2.18.2. The flaw exists in the file upload functionality (system/core/uploader.php, lines 509-532) where the "upload from URL" feature improperly handles HTTP redirects. When a redirect occurs, the target URL is not properly checked against the private IP blacklist, allowing an authenticated user to send requests to internal network services that should be inaccessible. This can lead to internal network scanning and potential information disclosure. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 score of 3.1 (low severity) and does not impact confidentiality, integrity, or availability beyond limited information exposure. Version 2.18.2 includes a fix for this issue.

Potential Impact

Authenticated users can exploit this SSRF vulnerability to bypass private IP address restrictions and access internal network services. This may allow internal network scanning and limited information disclosure. There is no indication of direct impact on data integrity or availability. The overall severity is low.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade InstantCMS to version 2.18.2 or later, which contains a fix for this SSRF vulnerability. No other mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory or CVE description.
