Published: 10/13/2026 (10/13/2026, 20:20:36 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: xorbitsai
Product: xoscar

Description

Xorbits Xoscar versions 0.1.0 through 0.11.2 contain an unauthenticated deserialization vulnerability that allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The flaw arises from unvalidated data being passed to cloudpickle.loads() in the actor-pool TCP channel before message type validation. This can lead to remote code execution as the server process, which often runs with root privileges on GPU nodes.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-49950 is a critical unauthenticated deserialization vulnerability in Xorbits Xoscar up to version 0.11.2. The vulnerability occurs because the SocketChannel.recv() method passes untrusted data directly to cloudpickle.loads() without prior validation of the message type. This enables attackers to craft malicious payloads that trigger the pickle __reduce__ gadget, resulting in remote code execution with the privileges of the server process, commonly root on GPU nodes.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on the affected server with root privileges. This can lead to full system compromise, data theft, or disruption of GPU node operations.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the actor-pool TCP channel to trusted networks and consider implementing network-level controls to prevent untrusted connections.
