What to do

AI-suggested

Until a fix is available, avoid running llama.cpp with the --reranking flag or restrict access to the /rerank endpoint to trusted users to mitigate exploitation risk.

Description

A denial of service vulnerability in llama.cpp occurs when the application is started with the --reranking flag. Remote attackers can exploit this by sending a POST request to /rerank with a negative top_n value, causing std::bad_alloc exceptions and resulting in HTTP 500 errors. This leads to service disruption but does not impact confidentiality or integrity.
