Published: 07/31/2026 (07/31/2026, 16:10:57 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: pterodactyl
Product: wings

Description

Wings is the server control plane for Pterodactyl, a free, open-source game server management panel. Prior to 1.13.0, unbounded json, yaml, and xml configuration-file parsers in parser.go can process an oversized non-file parser configuration file and exhaust Wings process memory. This issue is fixed in version 1.13.0.

Technical Analysis

Pterodactyl Wings versions before 1.13.0 contain a vulnerability (CWE-400) due to unbounded parsing of JSON, YAML, and XML configuration files in parser.go. An attacker or malformed input can supply an oversized non-file parser configuration file, causing the Wings process to consume excessive memory and potentially crash or become unresponsive. The vulnerability is addressed in version 1.13.0.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability can cause denial of service by exhausting the memory of the Wings process, impacting availability. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity reported. Exploitation requires local access or low privileges, and no known exploits are reported in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Pterodactyl Wings to version 1.13.0 or later, where this issue is fixed. No other official remediation or temporary fixes are documented. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed beyond the fix in 1.13.0, so users should verify with vendor advisories for the latest guidance.
