AI-suggested
Official patches are available and should be applied promptly. The vulnerability is fixed in Linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1111.115~20.04.1 and later as per the Ubuntu security advisory USN-8566-1. Systems running affected versions should upgrade to these fixed releases or later. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel Bluetooth subsystem involving unsynchronized access to the accept queue was resolved. The flaw allowed unsynchronized walking of the accept queue while child socket teardown could unlink sockets and drop references, potentially causing system compromise. The issue has been fixed by introducing a dedicated lock for queue updates and polling, and reworking the dequeue logic to safely manage socket references. Multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 5.15.0-1111.115~20.04.1 and related fixed versions are affected. This vulnerability has a CVSS score of 8.8, indicating high severity, but no known exploits in the wild have been reported. Official patches are available and should be applied.
