AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied. The issue is fixed in Linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1117.124~20.04.1 and later listed fixed versions. Users should update their Linux kernel to a fixed version as provided by their distribution. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's batman-adv module was fixed that involved improper handling of oversized TVLV packets. The issue was due to a 16-bit integer overflow in the size calculation of TVLV packet sections, leading to buffer overflow and kernel memory corruption. The flaw was addressed by changing the size calculation to use a wider type and adding checks to prevent oversized allocations.
