Vendor/Project: ahmadgb
Product: GeekyBot — AI Copilot, Chatbot, WooCommerce Lead Gen & Zero-Prompt Content

Description

The Geeky Bot plugin for WordPress versions up to and including 1. 2. 2 contains a critical missing authorization vulnerability. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to access a no-privilege AJAX route that enables attacker-controlled function dispatch. Exploiting this, attackers can trigger a plugin installer helper to download and unzip malicious ZIP files into the WordPress plugins directory, leading to arbitrary plugin installation and remote code execution.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-5294 is a critical vulnerability in the Geeky Bot WordPress plugin (versions up to 1.2.2) caused by missing authorization (CWE-862) on a no-privilege AJAX endpoint. This endpoint permits attacker-controlled model/function dispatch, which can invoke a plugin installer helper. The helper downloads and extracts attacker-supplied ZIP files into wp-content/plugins/, enabling unauthenticated attackers to install arbitrary plugins and achieve remote code execution on the affected WordPress site. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 9.8, reflecting its network exploitable, no privileges required, no user interaction needed, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows unauthenticated remote attackers to install arbitrary plugins on the WordPress site, resulting in full remote code execution. This compromises the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system, potentially allowing complete takeover of the web server hosting the plugin.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict access to the affected AJAX endpoints if possible, and consider disabling or removing the Geeky Bot plugin to prevent exploitation. Monitor vendor channels for updates and apply patches promptly once available.
