A fix is available and has been applied in updated Linux kernel versions. Users should upgrade to the fixed kernel releases to remediate this issue. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official patch.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Ceph filesystem component caused a kernel crash (BUG_ON) due to a stale blob size in the __ceph_build_xattrs_blob() function. This issue was reproducible with a specific test case and could lead to a denial of service via kernel crash. The problem was introduced by a race condition related to updating extended attributes blob size while a lock was released and reacquired. The vulnerability has been fixed in updated Linux kernel versions.
