A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to resolve the durable fd leak. The vendor advisory confirms that this issue has been fixed. Systems running affected versions should update to the fixed releases to prevent resource leaks.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ksmbd component caused a durable file descriptor (fd) leak when there was a ClientGUID mismatch during durable v2 open requests. This leak occurs because a reference obtained during a lookup is not properly released if the ClientGUID does not match, leading to pinned global file table entries and resource leaks. The issue has been fixed in updated Linux kernel versions.
