A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this issue has been fixed in updated kernel releases. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigations are specified or required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's net/sched subsystem (CVE-2026-53014) was fixed. The flaw involved incorrect device referencing in the act_mirred module's mac_header_xmit check during packet redirection to multiple devices. This caused incorrect handling of MAC headers, potentially leading to skb header corruption and kernel panic due to exhausted headroom. The issue affected mixed device types in the redirection block. A patch correcting the device reference was released.
