AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0-1058.61~22.04.1 and later for Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS. Users should upgrade to these fixed kernel versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's EROFS file system was fixed by unifying the logical cluster number (lcn) type as u64 for 32-bit platforms. Previously, lcn was defined as unsigned long or unsigned int, which are 32-bit on 32-bit platforms, causing truncation issues for values above 4 GiB. This flaw could affect the kernel's handling of large file systems on 32-bit systems. The issue has been addressed in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0-1058.61 and later in the Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS series.
