AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions 7.0.0-28.28~24.04.1, 7.0.0-1016.16~24.04.1, and other 7.0.0 series updates. Users should update to these fixed kernel versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigations are required as the issue is resolved by the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's F2FS filesystem could cause data loss when fsync is performed on a newly created file concurrently with a checkpoint operation. The issue arises from incorrect use of nat_entry flags, where the system incorrectly assumes a checkpoint has completed based on flag states before the checkpoint actually finishes. This flaw has been fixed by modifying the kernel code to properly synchronize access to these flags, ensuring checkpoint completion is correctly detected.
