AI-suggested

An official patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this issue has been fixed in updated kernel releases. Users should update their Linux kernel to a fixed version to mitigate this deadlock vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are specified or required beyond applying the patch.

Description

A deadlock vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF sockmap subsystem was fixed. The issue occurs in the af_unix iter deadlock scenario where bpf_iter_unix_seq_show() may deadlock when lock_sock_fast() takes the fast path and the iter program attempts to update a sockmap, causing recursive locking and a spin at sock_map_update_elem()'s bh_lock_sock(). This vulnerability affects multiple specific Linux kernel versions. The issue has been addressed with an official patch.
